Introducing Crew 416
Hey there, Troop 416 family and friends!
We have some thrilling news to share with you all. Troop 416 from Saline, MI is expanding our scouting horizons with the launch of a new Venture Crew! Say hello to Crew 416 – a brand new, adventure-packed group for both male and female scouts aged 14 and up.
So, What Exactly is a Venture Crew?
Great question! A Venture Crew is a special scouting unit focused on high-adventure activities and leadership development. It’s designed for older scouts who are ready to take on bigger challenges and explore new experiences. Venturing empowers you to create your own experiences while bringing Scouting values to life through high-adventure outdoor activities and challenging real-world projects. Think of it as the next level of scouting fun!
ALPS Model: Guiding Our Adventures
Venturing uses the ALPS model, which stands for Adventure, Leadership, Personal Growth, and Service. These pillars help us plan and execute exciting and meaningful activities that not only thrill but also develop essential skills.
Ranks and Recognition
Venturers have their own ranks and recognitions alongside scouting. Our Crew 416 Members are NOT required to purse these to participate, but if your scout wishes to, they are a fantastic supplement.
Venturers progress through four ranks: Venturing, Discovery, Pathfinder, and Summit. Each rank serves as a benchmark along a Venturer’s journey, encouraging personal growth and achievement.
Adventures Await for Both Young Men and Women
One of the coolest things about Crew 416 is that it’s co-ed–both young men and young women can join in on the adventures. This is great for siblings and families, too, as families can all experience the epic high-adventure fun.
Dual-Enrolled for Double the Fun!
Worried about having to leave your current troop? No need! Scouts in Crew 416 are dual-enrolled, which means you stay active in your original troop while also enjoying the benefits and excitement of the Venture Crew. It’s like having the best of both worlds!
Epic High Adventure: Northern Tier Canoeing Trip
And now, for the grand finale – Crew 416’s first high adventure is already in the works! This August, we’ll be embarking on an unforgettable 14-day canoeing adventure through Minnesota’s Boundary Waters at Northern Tier. Imagine paddling through pristine lakes, camping under star-filled skies, and making memories that will last a lifetime. It’s going to be epic!
We can’t wait for you to join us on this new journey. If you’re a scout aged 14 and up, or know someone who is, get ready to dive into the adventures of Crew 416. For those younger scouts in Troop 416, this is something to look forward to as you grow older – a whole new level of scouting fun awaits!
